              Ruby Handler has been described by colleagues and peers as truly a “Renaissance Woman”.   Her endeavors and experiences have been varied and diverse as she portrays an example of the pure American entrepreneurial spirit. 

 

              Educated at the University of Washington and a graduate of the Weist-Barron School of Television in New York, Ms. Handler has a science, entertainment, journalism, law enforcement and financial background and has further continued her studies in Criminal Justice and Psychology.  She has worked at banks, loan institutions, mortgage companies and as a free lance financial packager, fund raiser and entrepreneur, representing a broad spectrum of elite clients in the oil, publishing, entertainment, real estate, mining and music businesses. 

 

              In her general business dealings, she has effectively been able to crack the NIH (not invented here) philosophy and successfully given presentations to such major corporations as Seagrams, Kraft, Bristol-Myers and Hilton Hotels in the United States, Heron Financial Corporation based out of England and Grey Advertising in Sydney, Australia.   Ruby was on the personal staff and an associate for seven years of entrepreneur and developer, Mr. Gerald Bakalyan, who is especially known for negotiating the purchase of and consequently relocating the London Bridge to the Colorado River, spanning between California and Arizona at Lake Havasu, for developing the Sheraton Plaza de la Reina Hotel (now Gateway Sheraton) at LAX, and owner of “La Serre” restaurant in Sherman Oaks, California.  Ruby had worked for Mr. Bakalyan while two adjacent office buildings to the Sheraton Hotel were being developed, as well as the transpiring of many other negotiations for developments, purchases and sales of other office buildings, land, theaters, malls and restaurants.

 

              Ms. Handler grew up amidst the newspaper publishing business as her father was associated with “The Seattle Post Intelligencer”, now “The Seattle Times”.  Her press, publishing and writing career began as an associate publisher of “Zenith Press” in New York, which published quarterly head sheets and composites for all the top modeling agencies in New York.  She then became an associate of the world famous new columnist, James Reston, running the financial department of “The Vineyard Gazette” on Martha’s Vineyard, whose contributors regularly included the likes of Lillian Hellman, William Styron, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Gregory Peck, Henry Beetle Hough, and James Cagney. 

 

              Ruby then raised the financing, co-developed and was the Editor and Vice Chairman of the Board of “Petite Magazine”, the international fashion magazine for petite women, printed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Inc. and distributed by Curtis Circulation Co., Inc.   As a result of this association, she was also invited to sit on the panel of judges for a Ms. American Petite Pageant competition in Florida.  Ruby has also been a 20-year member of Round Table West, the largest literary book club in the nation, founded by the distinguished journalist and author, Adela Rogers St. Johns.  She also has been on the Editorial Advisory Panel of “Time Magazine”.  She is currently the Secretary and on the Board for Rotary.

 

              As a writer, Ruby is a published poet and has had editorials published in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times as well as articles published in various fashion magazines.  She has also finished her first two books, one on women’s self-defense (also video) and another on health and beauty now in the planning and publishing stages and has collaborated and co-written several scripts.  

 

              In the role of Producer, Ruby has produced and/or co-produced numerous entertainment projects spanning from live stage, theatrical and magic shows, and musical concerts to record cassettes and C.D.s to video presentations of films, businesses and in-house sales and instructional videos for an array of companies.  Ruby is now co-owner of “Solar Wind Productions”, which has several film projects in pre-production.  She has also invented, developed and is manufacturing a new anti-theft device for vehicles in which the parent company, “SAFEline Products” is preparing to take the new product, “On Point”, to market.    

 

              In the front lines, Ms. Handler has appeared in feature, documentary and industrial films, television soap operas and evening series, countless TV commercials and advertising print campaigns over the United States, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and Australia.  Her “co-stars” have included such names as George Burns, Lee Majors, Stacy Keach, Jacqueline Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Leslie Neilson, Hugh O’Brien, Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Gibson, Brian Ben-Ben, Barry Bostwick, Dar Robinson, Jack LaLanne, Joanna Cassidy, Dennis Cole, Jack Carter and Steve Allen.  Ruby has just finished filming the lead female role of an upcoming feature film, “Crab Orchard”, also starring Edward Asner and Judge Reinhold, in Illinois during June through August, 2003.  She has also just completed shooting a new cable television show for WE (Women’s Entertainment), “Diva Detectives.” She plays the “Boss” who runs the Detective Agency, which began airing in October, 2003, and has also been cast as a female lead in an upcoming TV Pilot currently in development, entitled “Emerald Bay.” 

 

              Earlier in her working career, Ms. Handler was a photographic retoucher for the largest chain of photo studios in Seattle, Washington and put in charge of coordinating all their wedding photographers, proof sheets and finished albums.  She also worked for exclusive dress shops in New York and New Jersey and was in charge of arranging displays and coordinating live fashion shows.

 

              Previously as a concert musician, she toured Europe as a classical pianist while still in High School.  Ruby is also a magician and has performed at the renowned Magic Castle in Hollywood and retains her castle membership.  She was also the co-host on a Los Angeles based celebrity musical talk show.

 

              She has been a Presidential Trust Delegate from the State of California and has received Presidential and Vice Presidential awards and commendations for her work and time donated to various causes and for fund raising on political campaigns.  Ruby has been active in many organizations and charities for many years, her mentor being the famous Sybil Brand who quickly “adopted” Ruby and enlisted her assistance in her numerous charitable activities.  She has also been an on camera spokes person and celebrity interviewer for many of these organizations, interviewing such greats as John Houseman, Betty Ford, Buddy Rogers, Phyllis Diller, Jill Ireland, Joseph Cotten, Rosie Greer, Gloria Vanderbilt, Ruby Keeler, Glenn Ford, Chuck Yeager and many more.  Her many efforts and endeavors had earned her an invitation and she has been listed in editions of “Who’s Who of American Women”.  She is active in the Chamber of Commerce and is the Secretary and on the Board of Directors for Rotary.

 

              In the law enforcement area, she is P.O.S.T. Certified (Peace Officer Standard and Training), has been a Contract Custody Officer for the U.S. Marshal Service, a bodyguard and bounty hunter and is licensed through B.S.I.S. (Bureau of Security and Investigative Services) for her weapons permits and P.P.O. License (Private Patrol Operator) as the Qualified Manager and Partner of a Security and Investigative Company, “No Stone Unturned”.   Ruby also has her Black Belt in Karate, has had a pyrotechnic license and trained as a race car driver and in defensive and evasive driving.  In addition, she is Certified in First Aid and CPR.  

 

              Ruby has been a long time member of the prestigious American Mensa, Ltd., an organization open only to persons of genius level I.Q.s.  And, sorry, she can’t help being a proud parent... Her son is now a Doctoral Candidate at Harvard University in Microbiology and Molecular and Cellular Genetics.
